St. Pete-Clearwater’s arts scene looks a lot like the inside of a kaleidoscope – vividly colored and full of possibilities.
From the Dalí Museum and Chihuly Collection in downtown St. Pete to gallery-lined main streets in Dunedin, Safety Harbor, and Tarpon Springs, creative energy shows up in nearly every direction you head in St. Pete-Clearwater. However far you wander from the beach, there's usually a mural, a gallery, or a historic theater waiting to be discovered.
Stunning Street Art
Throughout St. Pete and nearby cities, you'll find more than 600 amazing murals decorating buildings and streets. In fact, every October, the annual SHINE mural festival brings local and national muralists together to create new works of art each year.
Art Galleries
Appreciate the work of local artists and buy a special souvenir at one of the many independent art galleries in St. Pete. See gorgeous glass art at the Duncan McClellan Gallery in the Warehouse Arts District, shop for handcrafted items at Florida CraftArt on Central Avenue, and learn how to turn clay into a showpiece at The Clay Co-op, the Clay Center of St. Petersburg or the Morean Center for Clay. To really get to the roots of St. Pete’s vibrant local arts scene, check out The Factory, a communal creative and entertainment space in the Warehouse Arts District. A variety of tenants work there and showcase their talents.
Outside of St. Pete, look for art galleries in the region’s downtowns and main street areas, including Dunedin, Safety Harbor and Tarpon Springs.

Listen to the St. Petersburg Opera Co. at the Palladium Theater (temporarily closed) or hear the Florida Orchestra make beautiful music at the Mahaffey Theater. Check out the schedule for The Studio@620, an intimate spot that’s an integral part of the local arts scene. For wonderful theater, check out American Stage and freeFall Theatre Co. For big name musicians and traveling Broadway shows, there’s Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater.
Go for a cocktail and live music at the Floridian Social Club - a nearly century-old former movie house in downtown St. Pete. See an open-air concert at Jannus Live, a popular courtyard venue in St. Pete. The former bank building, built in 1924, now hosts band concerts. Another former movie house, the 1921 Bilheimer Capitol Theatre in Clearwater, hosts concerts and shows classic films.
