Owned by the City of Clearwater and managed by Ruth Eckerd Hall, The Nancy and David Bilheimer Capitol Theatre, located in downtown Clearwater’s Cleveland Street District, was constructed in 1921 and is one of Florida’s oldest operating theaters.
Recently, industry trade publication Pollstar named the Bilheimer Capitol Theatre the #1 club venue in Tampa, #1 in Florida, #2 in the United States and #2 in the world, compared to club venues with 800 seats or less based on gross ticket sales.
In 2013, the theatre underwent a complete $10 million renovation, becoming the catalyst for additional downtown development in Clearwater. In 2019, Nancy and David Bilheimer donated $2.5 million to Ruth Eckerd Hall as part of the theatre’s ongoing “Expanding the Experience” capital campaign. In recognition of the generous donation, the Capitol Theatre’s name was changed to the Nancy and David Bilheimer Capitol Theatre.

Great venue - 800 seats with mezzanine and 8 little private balcony boxes. All staff very professional yet personable and eager to please. Saw Taj Farrant there last night. Comfortable seating with drink cup holder in front of you. Vodka/tonic was $10 or you could get a double for $19. Bathrooms were clean and nicely decorated. Ladies room had pretty tiles with ladies on them- I’ll try to post a picture. Parking was a bit of a walk but their website sent us directions to lots of free parking while their usual lots were under construction. This is my 8th concert there since 2019.
We loved the theater. Loved the decor very beautiful and historic looking. Wonderful stage. We saw 6 Guitars and loved it!! My husband came to this theater as a child and saw movies. His Aunt remembers getting in to movies with RC Cola Caps. The memories made it extra special.
I have seen many concerts at this classic old time venue. Never disappointed. Just saw Cream of Clapton...Excellent Show! Easy access. Friendly, helpful staff. I highly recommendn
I saw Taj Farrant play here and it was absolutely stunning how well this young man plays guitar and sings. He was on for a couple of entertaining hours and it was nice to meet his family upon entering the theater door at the meet and greet. I was completely enamored how advanced he plays guitar and thoroughly enjoyed the show. Caught his parents up by the stage watching their son and daughter who played keyboards. She usually plays drums but Mom and Dad said she injured her wrist and needed some time before resuming drums again. Can't wait to see this group again a very entertaining evening.
Have been there many times - always enjoy the shows. Parking was a little harder to find - i think the property around it is being bought up and developed. There are several restaurants nearby. Just saw the Outlaws 2 weeks ago - always a GREAT show - the Florida Guitar Army!! Southern rock at its best!
