“Small plates, good times and lots of wine” is the motto of Allelo, a new Mediterranean spot from the team behind 400 Beach Seafood & Tap House. The restaurant’s name is a diminutive of “allelomimesis,” the scientific word for a group of, say, birds that come together to form a flock. Gathering is central to the restaurant’s ethos, with dishes that are meant for sharing with friends and family. Sushi may not typically be considered a vegan delight, but the owners of Vegano are hoping to change that with a menu full of plant-based sushi rolls and ramen. The concept started in Tampa as a delivery and catering operation and has now gotten very popular amongst locals. Try a spicy (and beautiful) Volcano Roll filled with avocado and cucumber.
