Brick & Mortar

Celebrated a family member’s birthday here last night and everything was excellent as it always is at Brick and Mortar. Have eaten here many times over the years and the food and service is consistently outstanding. My only general complaint about the restaurant is that it can be a bit too loud and crowded but I guess that is what you get when you are so good. Last night was not crowded and not so loud so easier to carry conversations so we’ll have to keep this in mind to try to make it here on Mondays more often rather than the weekend. As for the food, we always order the gambas, which is gulf shrimp with white beans and it is just the best comfort food. The roasted octopus and the ahi tuna tartar were also perfectly prepared. A couple of us had the lamb lollipops and they were so good, we hope they keep it on the menu. And leave room for dessert. At least share a bread pudding with multiple spoons. Our server was attentive, light and fun and entertained us with his operatic voice when he brought out dessert. Highly recommend Brick and Mortar. Would have it in my top ten in Tampa Bay even with all the new recent entries.

We generally had a good experience having dinner at Brick & Mortar. We had a party of 5, and were surprised by how small the place was. It was crowded with most tables being occupied. One whole side of the restaurant was taken up by a bar. We ordered a variety of menu items, which offered both a seasonal menu and standard menu. We had a chorizo stuffed dates with fresno tomato sauce to start, and ordered a b&m burger, filet and frites, and pasta alla' amatriciana. Our reviews were positive, but with a couple of caveats. The filet was delicious and tender, and was arguably the best of all the meals. We didn’t enjoy the presentation though, as the filet was plopped right in the middle on top of the fries. This made some of the fries soggy and we ended up having to move the filet to a different plate anyway. The burger was nice and juicy, and the fries were good although not crispy. The pasta was perhaps the most disappointing. The noodles were thin and thick, like slices of lasagna. It made it difficult to eat and we would have preferred regular noodles. In general, the service was excellent and our waitress was attentive and friendly. Overall, we had a good dinner but with all the options in the area, we weren’t blown away and we’re not sure if we would be back.

I had dinner at this quaint little restaurant in downtown St. Petersburg for the first time last night with a friend, and we absolutely loved it. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, inviting, and charming — the kind of place you instantly know you’ll want to come back to. They offer a pretty diverse menu with something for everyone, which we really appreciated. It made choosing difficult in the best way possible. Both of our appetizers were excellent — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The entrées were just as impressive and cooked perfectly. You can tell there’s real attention to detail in the kitchen. The service was also great. Our server was attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even more enjoyable without being overbearing. Overall, it was a fantastic first visit. Everything from the food to the atmosphere to the service was on point. I would definitely return and highly recommend giving this spot a try if you’re in downtown St. Pete.

Decent place overall the service was very good and filled up our water religiously too. The sweet potato ravioli appetizer was quite delicious. Wife loved the bouillabaisse but my salad with shrimp was doused with dressing so much it made it tough to enjoy. Probably worth a second try.

We very much enjoyed our meal here and thought the food was outstanding. The place is small and can be loud and crowded. Also note that they do not have liquor only beer and wine.
