There's no denying the delight of a delicious brunch... mmm... pancakes! But, how about celebrating the woman who brought you into this world with something a little more adventurous, more relaxing or more creative? Make new memories with your mom on Mother's Day with a speed boat race, a day at the spa or a glass blowing class!
Kayak at Weedon Island Preserve
Get away from the hustle and bustle with an escape to Weedon Island Preserve's 1,046-acres of lush natural landscape. Rent two single kayaks ($17 per hour each) or go for the ultimate bonding experience and rent a double kayak ($25 per hour) from Sweetwater Kayaks. Trails will lead you through unique corridors of thick mangrove canopies. Pack a lunch and enjoy a day of paddling on the water!
Blow glass at the Morean Arts Center's Hot Shop
Discover the art of glass blowing at the Hot Shop in downtown St. Pete! Create a masterpiece to place on the mantel next to the ceramic you made for mom in third grade. This one-of-a-kind experience includes hands-on instruction from the pros. Classes start at $75 per person and 30 minute classes are available daily.
St. Petersburg Speed Boat Adventures
If your mom is the adventurous type, let her take the wheel and become the captain of her very own speed boat (or you can chauffeur her in a two-person boat) on this guided two hour, 15 mile tour around Tampa Bay and St. Pete's waterways. The witty yet historical narration is done through two-way communication systems mounted in each boat.
Yoga on Tap at Green Bench Brewing
The third Sunday of each month Green Bench Brewing hosts an outdoor yoga session in the beer garden led by highly acclaimed yogis. Afterwards, enjoy the sunshine and a pint of craft beer. Sessions are from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and costs $10 in advance ($15 at the door). Mom not a beer fan? How about Yoga at the Dali Museum? Yoga + Dali is hosted every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. in the community room at the museum for just $15. For an extra $10, explore the galleries afterwards!
A Day Trip to Tarpon Springs
Hop in the car and take a drive to one of St. Pete/Clearwater's most charming small towns! The journey is half the fun. Peruse the sponge docks, hop on a boat tour to spot dolphins, wander through quaint shops in the historic downtown area, stop into local museums and indulge in delicious Greek food. It's fun to discover new places and Tarpon Springs has a lot to offer.
Tampa Bay Aviation
Take your Mother's Day experience to new heights with a helicopter tour of St. Pete/Clearwater. With over ten tour options available, you can choose where you want to take flight including Tarpon Springs, Clearwater Beach (AKA America's #1 Beach) and downtown St. Pete. Make the experience even more special by creating your own tour and ask the pilot to fly over your home or special landmarks! Either way, you're guaranteed to have the best seats in the house with Tampa Bay Aviation.
Spa at the Don CeSar Hotel
There's nothing like a day at the spa to help you relax and reset. Treat mom to premiere services at the Don CeSar such as full-body massages, a blissful scalp treatment, pedicures, manicures, wraps and more. Bonus: the spa is located at the historic Don Cesar Hotel on St. Pete Beach with a beautiful terrace overlooking the gulf. Make mom feel like royalty!
St. Pete Pier District
There's plenty to treat mom to at the St. Pete Pier District. Enjoy a nice picnic in the grass, artwork and gifts at the local marketplace, a stop in the Tampa Bay Watch Discovery Center or a rooftop experience at Pier Teaki. Plus, there's so much more shopping nearby along Bayshore Drive!
