Spring Events and Festivals

Every time of year is wonderful in St. Pete/Clearwater, but spring is a great time to visit, with its spectacular weather and a full calendar of amazing festivals and events. Come celebrate the best that our beautiful area has to offer!

In the spring the "Boys of Summer" take advantage of the beautiful weather to train for their upcoming seasons. You can catch Spring Training games featuring the Philadelphia Phillies in Clearwater and the Toronto Blue Jays in Dunedin from late February through late March.

In early March you can feed your need for speed at the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, a top motorsport event held in downtown St. Pete. If the greens are more your style, the PGA Valspar Championship is held on the Innisbrook Copperhead Course in mid-March. Some of the finest golfers in the world travel to Palm Harbor for the challenging tournament.

A wide variety of special events are held during the month of April. For championship kingfish fishing the Old Salt Spring King of the Beach Fishing Tournament offers something for the entire family, including a Kids Fishing Slam.

In Dunedin you can celebrate the town’s Scottish heritage at the Dunedin Highland Games & Festival. You’ll find Scottish dancing, piping and drumming along with more vigorous events like the Caber Toss and Hammer Throw.

Love the waterfront? The Tampa Bay Blues Festival delivers national bands at Vinoy Park along the waterfront in downtown St. Pete. Also held in the park, the Mainsail Art Festival wows with juried fine art & craft exhibitors in a variety of disciplines. Nearby in the Mall at Sundial, the Sunscreen Film Festival will delight film buffs with the chance to mingle with filmmakers, actors and celebrities while enjoying top notch films.

For a day at the beach you won’t forget, the Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival showcases the work of professional sand sculptors from all corners of the globe. A 21,000 square foot Sugar Sand Walk full of incredible sculptures along with live music, fireworks and more make this a not to miss event.
