Head to Fort De Soto Park

Next, make the short drive to Fort De Soto Park, one of the most beloved natural treasures on Florida’s Gulf Coast. Spanning 1,136 acres across five islands, the park offers soft sand beaches, lush trails, and even a historic Spanish-American War-era fort to explore.

Highlights at Fort De Soto:

  • Serene beach walks with views of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge
  • Rent bikes to ride the park’s scenic seven-mile paved trail
  • Birdwatching and wildlife sightings in protected coastal habitats
  • Paddle or picnic near calm coves and sandy inlets

Tip: Head to the park’s northern tip for the most peaceful beach experience.

10:00 AM – Ferry to Egmont Key

From Fort De Soto’s bay pier, hop aboard the ferry to Egmont Key, a secluded island that’s only accessible by boat. This historic wildlife preserve features:

  • Crystal-clear waters perfect for swimming and snorkeling
  • A working lighthouse and ruins of Fort Dade

Evening – Sunset & Dinner on the Beach

After your return to Treasure Island, consider unwinding with a drink and dinner at Caddy’s on Sunset Beach. This local favorite offers:

  • Tables right on the sand
  • Relaxed live music
  • Gulf-front views perfect for watching the 8:00 PM sunset
