The action at the XInsurance Clearwater Offshore Nationals starts to heat up on Saturday, September 28, 2024, with two races sandwiched into a non-stop day of testing and qualifying sessions.
The focus will shift to waters just off Clearwater Beach, where the races, practice and qualifying will take place. But the boats will still be available to check out up-close all day in the Dry Pits in Sand Key Park. The day would not be complete without another party for fans and race teams.
Schedule for Day 2: Saturday, September 28, 2024
9 a.m. to 5 p.m.: See boats in the Dry Pits in Sand Key Park, Sand Key, 1060 Gulf Blvd. Entrance to the park is free but parking is $5 per day.
10 a.m. to noon: Official testing offshore of the race boats
1 p.m.: Race 1, Mod V class
2 p.m.: Race 2, Super Stock class
3 to 3:15 p.m.: Qualifying session for the Class 1 USA, the pinnacle of offshore powerboat racing, which can reach speeds up to 160 mph
3:15 to 4 p.m.: Final session of race boat test runs
8 p.m. to 2 a.m.: Party at Shepherd’s Beach Resort, 619 S Gulfview Blvd., Clearwater Beach. Admission is free.
Transportation Options
For those who want to avoid driving to Clearwater Beach, several public transportation options are available. The Jolley Trolley will take you from Pier 60 to the entrance to Sand Key Park, where the race boats are based. The one-way fare is $2.25. The trolley accepts tap-to-pay, or payment through the Flamingo Fares app, or exact change in cash (no pennies).
