Recovery to Radiance: Clearwater Marine Aquarium Welcomes Back Visitors

The Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) faced significant challenges in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. Storm floodwaters surged into the facility, causing extensive damage estimated at over $2.5 million. The hurricane destroyed vital parts of CMA’s buildings, leaving the team with a massive rebuilding effort. Despite the setbacks, CMA has made remarkable progress and is in a much better position today, though some reconstruction work continues.

As a renowned rescue and rehabilitation center for marine animals like dolphins, sea turtles, otters, and more, CMA remains committed to its mission even during challenging times. The dedication of staff and the support of the community have played a key role in helping the facility recover.

To bring some much-needed joy to the community after a tough hurricane season, CMA is hosting its Aqua Lanterns event through the holidays. This nighttime exhibition features dazzling lights, music, and bubbles, creating a magical experience for visitors of all ages. This radiant new after-hours experience is available Wednesday through Sunday evenings and select dates through December 30, 2024.

Clearwater Marine Aquarium invites locals and visitors alike to experience its inspiring marine life exhibits, enjoy the festive Aqua Lanterns display, and share in the sense of hope and renewal that defines its recovery journey.

Come out, show your support, and see how Clearwater Marine Aquarium is Still Shining brighter than ever!
