Wake Up & Head to the Water

Wake up and hit the beach early. Indian Rocks' soft, white sands are made for barefoot strolls and shell hunting. It’s peaceful here in the morning, and the light is perfect for snapping a few “wish-you-were-here” photos. Take a dip in the warm Gulf water before you head out for breakfast.

The Way Breakfast Was Meant to Be

Come to Grove Surf Cafe for the amazing lattes, delicious breakfast bites and welcoming smiles.

Next stop: Grove Surf Cafe, a cozy little spot run by a local couple who know their way around a latte (don't miss the toasted coconut flavor, their specialty). Grab a seat on the front patio and dig into a hash brown bowl or a breakfast sandwich on a brioche bun. You'll be glad you did.

A Mid-Morning Adventure That's for the Birds

A visit to Seaside Seabird Sanctuary is both educational and inspiring.

Just 10 minutes south of Grove Surf Cafe, you'll find the Seaside Seabird Sanctuary in Indian Shores. Here, you can get a behind-the-scenes look at wildlife rehab in action. You’ll see pelicans, herons, owls and other birds being cared for with the goal of returning them to the wild. It's free to visit, though donations are always welcome.

Fun fact: In 2023, the sanctuary helped rehabilitate "Peaches," the flamingo that unexpectedly appeared in the area following Hurricane Idalia.

A Laid-Back Lunch

We have two spots that diners have great things to say about:

Beach Waves Grill: In keeping with its "ocean vibe" (the decor is all driftwood and blue waves), the menu here leans heavily towards seafood, though you also find ribs, chicken and a black bean burger option.

Monstah Lobstah & JD's Back Porch: Their "lunch bites" menu features pub favorites, like cheese fries, smoked fish dip and chicken wings, as well as their popular lobstah roll.

Splash Into Fun at Splash Harbour Water Park

Splash Harbour is a fun place to cool off in the afternoon.

Time to cool off and let loose at Splash Harbour Water Park, next to the Holiday Inn Harbourside. Whether you’re traveling with kids or just want to act like one, the lazy river, splash zones and winding slides are the perfect way to cool off.

Afterwards, head back to your hotel or vacation rental for a shower and a quick nap, or some time to relax by the pool.

Dinner Out at Salt Rock Grill

A delicious red snapper dish at Salt Rock Grill.

Fresh, locally sourced seafood is always on the menu at Salt Rock Grill and many other restaurants in St. Pete-Clearwater.

This classy coastal spot with views of the Intracoastal Waterway is locally famous, and for good reason: It serves fish fresh from the restaurant's own boats. You'll want to dress up just a bit for dinner at Salt Rock (where the dress code might be called "island chic"). Choose one of three different preparations when you order the fresh catch (their signature one is with capers, tomatoes, fresh basil and lemon). And be sure to save room for dessert – the banana rum bread pudding and the Salt Rock cheesecake are both delicious.
