Crooked Thumb Brewery, Safety Harbor

Three friends enjoying drinks at the bar at Crooked Thumb Brewery.

Thumbs Up

Just a block off Main Street, Crooked Thumb Brewery is just as laid back as the rest of Safety Harbor – and there's delicious craft beer always on tap.

The expansive, 6,000-square-foot Crooked Thumb Brewery calls tiny downtown Safety Harbor home. Here, brewers craft a wide variety of beers such as Harbor Lite Lager, 757 Gold Ale, Shade Tree IPA and more.

Crooked Thumb's biggest claim-to-fame, however, is its annual release of Rule #7 Hurricane Pale Ale, inspired by local TV meteorologist Denis Phillips, who created a list of seven “Hurricane Rules” to help viewers during the season. The first six are pretty standard warnings. But Rule #7?  “Stop freaking out... until I tell you to. We're fine."

On your visit, relax in the family-friendly beer garden shaded by a canopy of trees, while enjoying live music, yard games, trivia nights and other events. Grab a seat at a picnic table and play one of the board games from the collection inside and, on weekends, enjoy snacks or a meal from one of the local food vendors.
