Island Grand at TradeWinds

⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ TradeWinds is a great choice for families, especially if you’re traveling with kids. I visited with my three daughters (ages 4–14), and there was never a shortage of things to do. They absolutely loved the water slide, nightly s’mores, foam party, and live music. There were activities throughout our stay that kept everyone entertained. The beach is beautiful, the service was friendly, and everything was very convenient. I also really appreciated having a small kitchenette with a refrigerator, freezer, microwave, and stovetop. Being able to prepare a few meals made traveling with three kids much easier and saved us from having to eat out for every meal. The main downside was the rooms. They felt quite dated and had a noticeable musty smell. While they could definitely use an update, I did appreciate the layout with a separate sleeping area and a sofa sleeper, which gave our family a little extra space. One tip for future visitors: take a short drive south to Fort DeSoto to hunt for sand dollars. My girls absolutely loved this, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. Overall, despite the dated rooms, we’d happily return because of the incredible family-friendly atmosphere, beach, and endless activities for kids.

Had a great experience with the family at the Tradewinds complex. Lots to do, and staff was great. Have to mention the bellmen, and Rob Holdaway in particular. They started and ended our trip on a great note, and helped us with our bags and getting things from them whenever we needed. Super helpful. Food onsite was exceptional too. Thank you. Great trip.

Izzy was an amazing bartender! She was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience feel welcoming. The drinks were great, and her service really stood out. You can tell she genuinely cares about her customers and knows how to make people feel comfortable. Definitely ask for Izzy if you’re looking for a great bartender!

This place is truly amazing and I would definitely come back! If they updated the rooms and made a few renovations, it would easily be an extraordinary resort. Overall, I’d give it a 9/10. The rooms felt a little cramped, and some upgrades are definitely needed, but that didn’t take away from the experience. Since this trip was all about the kids, I would do it all over again without hesitation. The location was another huge plus, we were right in the middle of everything, which gave us the chance to visit Clearwater Beach and the Pier, as well as spend time exploring Tampa. So far, this has been the best family resort we’ve visited in the U.S. There was so much for the kids to do and they had an absolute blast. The memories we made were worth every moment!

There were so many staff members that gave us 5-star service. We always got top notch treatment from all the servers whether it was at the breakfast restaurant outside or Rumfish. We ate on property for every meal over 3 days and enjoyed the food quality as well. About the only disappointment with service was the beach chair system in the morning. I don't blame the small team there, they need more help at set up for the guests - just not the rest of the day. Guests can wait for up to 1 hour in line in the direct sun waiting to get up to get your chairs. Get there early to cut this down to 20 or 30 minutes. This was a stressful part of the day which no guest should have that. The rooms are dated and the resort is wonky since its a compilation of combined properties but I see the vision they have and they are spending a lot of money to continue to invest in it. You don't really come to a resort like this to stay in your room anyways. But, it would be great if they were nicer rooms. The location they have on St. Pete Beach is to die for. Overall, I give it 5-stars because it's a good value, great service, and they do have some nice vibes going on there. There are lots of bars, towel service is great, and you really feel like you are having a beach vacation.
