The Getaway

A great outdoor dining experience. The environment and atmosphere are amongst some best in the city. Nestled on Gandy Blvd beneath on a giant tiki hut on the beach and canal it provides the best of both worlds. Waterfront dining with beach and boat access. The food and service were very good considering after we were seated a large rush of people arrived , not all together but the groups were 4 or more in a steady stream. I would strongly encourage a reservation if visiting around noon on the weekends. Outside of that grab your flip-flop or cross and bring your appetite! Enjoy

Can't say enough about how good the food was and how attentive the staff was. The lobster tacos were very flavorful, the bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers were great, the yuca fries were tasty, the conch appetizer was also tasty. The grouper bites were just as tasty and the rum and coke was very well balanced. The atmosphere was very relaxed and loved that it was tucked away and hidden from the road so it felt like a secret getaway... recommended!

We recently visited The Getaway for a friend’s birthday, and it was a great spot for a large group. They were able to accommodate us comfortably, and the venue itself is incredibly beautiful with plenty of tables and space to hang out. I would definitely recommend making a reservation, though, because seating can fill up quickly. The atmosphere has such fun Florida beach vibes. There are multiple bars, boats nearby, people paddleboarding, and a mix of wooden floors and sandy areas that really add to the relaxed waterfront feel. It is a great place to spend time with friends, enjoy the view, and have a casual but memorable outing. The menu is large and diverse, with plenty of food and drink options, including a few vegan items. Our servers were amazing, kind, and attentive throughout our visit. I recently had the salmon tacos, a margarita, and the yucca fries, and all three were honestly 10 out of 10. One thing to plan for is the heat and bugs, especially depending on the time of day or season. It can get very hot, and bugs can definitely be around, so I would recommend dressing accordingly and keeping bug spray with you. Overall, The Getaway is a beautiful, fun, and laid-back place with great food, great drinks, and a wonderful atmosphere. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a cool Florida-style spot to hang out, especially with a group.

The venue is very relaxing, and the atmosphere fits the mood for any occasion! Nice little getaway. The food was absolutely amazing! The service however needs a little tweaking. The staff were polite and courteous, however, they also seemed a bit inattentive and forgetful. Food was served in a timely manner and it was delicious. I will visit again!

Loved the food, drinks, setting, music and bar tender/server! Will definitely be back when I am in the area. Grouper sandwich was excellent and large. Yuca fries were perfect. Mahi Mahi bowl was very tasty. Thouroughly enjoyed the crafted drinks. Shout out to Cory for excellent service!
