The Tarpon Springs Historic District, a significant part of Florida’s heritage, spans roughly 700 acres and showcases 145 picturesque historic sites. The district includes architectural styles from the late 19th and early 20th centuries and is home to notable sites like the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral, an example of Byzantine Revival style, and the Old Tarpon Springs City Hall.

Added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1990, the area is known for its rich history tied to the sponge industry and Greek culture. Visitors can explore historic homes, museums, and shops and dine in the downtown commercial district.
