St. Pete Beach Reef is one of 43 artificial reefs along the Gulf coast of Pinellas County from Tarpon Springs to St. Pete Beach. These man-made reefs are constructed from environmentally safe materials, and within about two weeks, algae and barnacles begin to cover the carefully placed structure, attracting fish. Within a year, coral growth starts.

St. Pete Beach Reef, located five miles offshore from Pass-A-Grille, is considered a top fishing spot, teeming with marine life. Concrete from the Old Corey Causeway and Skyway Bridge form the foundation, while a 200-foot barge sunk in 1984 is at the reef's core. The reef also features ten obsolete U.S. Army tanks sunk in 1995. You can find coordinates for the tanks at , and learn more about artificial reefs in the area.
