Seminole Historical Society and Museum

The Seminole Historical Society was founded to highlight historic artifacts, documents, articles and buildings in Seminole. Its purpose is to ensure that our children and future generations will have a place to go to learn about stories of families from the past who helped create our present, so that we can carve the future.

My family and I were in Seminole for a quick trip and randomly discovered this hidden gem! Every volunteer was incredibly kind, patient and informative! They could not show my kids enough artifacts or tell them enough facts-we all loved it! Highlights of the visit for my kids-holding a replica tusk of a mammoth and saber tooth cat plus the real peacock feathers Sandy let us take home! If you have some time, definitely check this place out!

What a great museum! Lots of great history! My children loved the Native American artifacts, the fossils found right here in Seminole and the staff! They want to go back!

Surprisingly rich museum with displays depicting prehistoric bones from mammoths and other extinct species indigenous to this region. Large maps showing the history of this region and popular landmarks, including rail lines and orange groves. I spent an hour perusing the displays and did not see half of it. The staff persons were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable of the history; one of them being a nearly 70 year resident across the street from this park. What a truly pleasant and informative visit. I’d highly recommended going. It’s only open a few hours 2 days a week which limits access but more visitors could possibly increase hours of operation.

The volunteer staff was amazing. They told fantastic facts about the Regent and the Indians, and it was just wonderful to be there.
