This Florida history and archaeology museum features 12,000 years of history. The museum offers dioramas and displays of fossils, projectile points, shell tools, beads and pottery that tell the story of Florida's first people and the arrival of Spanish explorers. Photographs and memorabilia illustrate Safety Harbor at the turn of the century when visitors were first drawn to the place "where healing waters flow."

In 2011 the City of Safety Harbor and the Safety Harbor Museum Board joined forces to reinvigorate the Safety Harbor Museum and Cultural Center. After significant improvements to both the interior and exterior of the building, the facility reopened in late 2012 and is proud to offer a multitude of activities that celebrate the history of Safety Harbor while welcoming the growing arts community. The City and the Board have made it their mission to create a facility that will strive to serve its residents and visitors of Safety Harbor. Safety Harbor Museum and Cultural Center...where arts and heritage come alive! Suggestion donation admission fee is $4.00.

Great experience, with friendly and helpful staff! We paid admission and were immediately seated for a walk-through-time video of Safety Harbor. The video did a good job introducing the Tocobaga people and the Spanish colonizers. Afterward, I walked through the museum and saw a bunch of fun stuff, but especially loved the old news clippings, specifically the Keeter Booth interview (WOW!). The Mississippean antiquities between the bathrooms were very interesting, as was the story of William Blackshear. The woman who greeted us was a NY transplant who'd had a crash course on local history, and was kind enough to recommend me the Jungle Prada tour in St. Pete, which ended up being the highlight of my trip the next day. Thank you Safety Harbor for preserving this history.
Nice and quiet little place with info about history of the area and also some other (changing) art on display. There is a lot to see and learn for the interested, unfortunately there is absolutely nothing in regard to native people fishing habits/ways, which is surprising, since the whole area is basically on the shore so I would imagine natives would have used the ocean's resources quite a bit.
Interesting museum with various artifacts. Staff super friendly and accommodating. Small, so you can enjoy the museum and still go out for lunch or dinner in the area. Entry is a donation.
The staff at this little gem is super friendly and informative. I was greeted immediately upon entering the building and shown around to all the exhibits, all the while getting information about what was being shown. It’s a small place but nestled so close to downtown it would be easy to incorporate into your day! I recommend this museum as a fun informative addition to your visit to Safety Harbor!
Great small museum to visit. Watch the little film they show there; it's worth it if you want to learn about the history about Safety Harbor. You can either walk through it in 10min or spend an hour, or more. It all depends on how much time you spend looking at artifacts, images, and historic items. It apparently is also a great venue for parties and weddings.
