Poppo's Taqueria is a family owned and operated Mexican inspired restaurant. We trace our roots to street food of San Francisco's Mission District. Poppo's offers unique, layered flavors through the use of real, fresh ingredients, hard work, and the passionate application of skill. We take a no compromise approach in everything we do. Our mission is to redefine the fast casual food experience, to exceed reasonable expectations, and to do things no one else is doing. We put our hearts and minds into every aspect of our craft, the seen and the unseen, because we believe the difference can be felt, experienced and tasted.

Stopped by Poppo’s Taqueria for lunch and had a great experience. I tried the fresh handmade classic tacos, and they were excellent, flavorful, authentic, and made with quality organic ingredients. You can really taste the care that goes into the food. I love that Poppo’s brings the spirit of the San Francisco Mission District and Oakland taquerias to the Tampa Bay area while staying committed to wholesome, thoughtfully sourced ingredients. The family owned passion behind the restaurant comes through in every bite. Great food, great values, and a place I’ll definitely be coming back to!

My experience at Poppo's Taqueria was nothing short of impressive. Jonas... the staff member, went above and beyond by patiently addressing my wife's queries regarding food and ingredients due to her allergies. He provided a comprehensive list of pre-printed ingredients, ensuring transparency and peace of mind. We ordered two rice bowls—one featuring two distinct rice flavors paired with chicken protein, cilantro, onions and cheese—while my wife opted for a rice and beans dish with cheese and cilantro, perfectly tailored to her taste. The restaurant’s commitment to using organic and locally sourced ingredients was evident, which added to the authenticity of the dining experience. Despite arriving late at 9:30 PM, we were still able to enjoy a satisfying meal. I highly recommend Poppo's Taqueria. i plan to return soon. We stopped by at the recommendation of a friend and boy was he spot on, really amazing food. I checked out their website before we went and read how all the ingredients are fresh and clean and that really comes through in the taste of all the food. I ordered the Bee Sting Burrito and as I'm telling the guy behind the counter what I want I realize he's making my flour tortilla fresh! At that point I knew this would be a great experience. The Bee Sting burrito is large flour tortilla, white rice, black beans, ancho chicken, romaine, pico de gallo, jack cheese, and pineapple hot sauce. The flavors are so bright and fresh and the freshly grilled flour tortilla really rounded the taste off. My wife did one of the bowls and built her own with tempeh, which they make in-house. The portion was large for my wife's bowl and my burrito. We ordered chips and guacamole and the chips were with flour vs corn tortilla which was a welcome change and the guacamole was super fresh. They do offer lots of vegetarian options for all the meals. They have a nice selection of local tap beer and fresh kombucha on tap. It's a walk up & self order place and they have both indoor and outdoor seating with some picnic tables right out front. The restaurant is right on Central Ave in downtown St Pete so it's a great vibe with lots going on.

The food is fantastic, love the fresh quesadillas!! On top of the amazing food, the owner also leaves out a a fresh bowl of ice for the dogs. Apparently they have the best ice in the city because she pulls us here everyday!

Let me just start off by saying “i’m definitely that annoying hipster” when it comes to Mexican food… NOT because I’m Latinx but simply because I lived in Los Angeles for a 15yrs, so I carry an inherent (and justified) bias. BUT this place is good… very, VERY good. from the tortillas which are pressed before your eyes, to the wonderfully succulent meats, they really take pride in what they offer. Even the pico de gallo (which is generally something I won’t eat on a dare) was so thoroughly impressive looking that I sheepishly asked server to add some to my burrito even though i’d maxed out) and from what i’ve encountered, EVERYONE i know who’s eaten here absolutely raves about it, which isn’t a thing that happens often. anyway, take it from a former Angeleno, this is a real treat.
