Dropped to 4 stars only because the swimming pool closes at 7pm— in the summer even! Everything was squeaky clean. Great place to bring your dog. Central location in Dunedin. I walked just about everywhere.toiletries were very nice and smelled great.
This place has been the most awful experience we’ve ever had at a hotel. My husband and I were there with our 3 small kids for a wedding which was inside the hotel. When we got there I talk to the guy at the desk, smiled and asked how he was. He was so unfriendly and barely responded. I asked him for the pack n play we were promised when booking and said they don’t have those. We eventually got checked in and went down to get a cart. The doors are so hard to push open because they are broken. Mind you, this hotel looks pretty newly built. Our bed was broken and it wasn’t a great night of sleep. When I went down to talk to the manager, Linda, she said she will send someone up. The maintenance guy got there and was very nice. He agreed it was broken. When I followed up she was so mean and said nothing is wrong with the bed and that they’ve gotten “so many” complaints about our kids running in the hallway at night, which is a complete lie because they were asleep. They were running during the day I explained and apologized for it. She complained again to me later about our kids running around, but we were gone the entire morning so that was impossible. Linda also said “they can run as much as they want during the day”. Next, my husband had to shut the tv off by the button because the remote was broken. The TV came crashing down and I had to talk to Linda again. She started yelling at me saying that we ripped it off the wall on purpose. Tiana was another front desk puppet of Linda and she started saying I was a liar. It was all so bizarre. I was embarrassed, but so confused. We ended up getting an Air bnb and leaving because I knew this wasn’t going to work out. I told them we were leaving and if there was anyway we could get any money back for the next 3 days. Linda said absolutely not, which I did understand. During the time I was talking with Linda, the front desk girl, Tiana, was laughing at me and rolling her eyes. It was incredibly rude. Now, day before wedding. I walked in to say hi to the bride and they were setting up. As I was up there, Linda came up and said they are being way too loud and she was locking the doors until the wedding day. I should mention that the people in the room being “loud” was the bride, her mom and grandma. It was ridiculous. On the wedding day, someone tried checking in and I happened to be standing around the corner. They messed up her room and were refusing to do anything about it other than a 10% discount. Then that same front desk guy told this family that they the wedding guests are awful and pointed at me said that I “threw a TV off the wall”. I told the wedding guest that wasn’t true. He started arguing again and said I threatened him and called the police on me! All in all, this hotel is built so poorly. There is hanging wires in the middle of the hallway, paper thin walls, broken doors, etc. The pool was gross and green. It was so bad that I wouldn’t even let my kids swim in it. I heard other guests complain about this as well. The workers there are truly awful people and extremely rude. I have never had customer service so poor in my life! I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. This place is absolutely not kid friendly or even people friendly. If anyone tries to dispute this, I have pictures and videos of almost everything I noted above.
Great location! Couldn’t ask for a better location. Within walking distance to downtown Dunedin. FYI-Parking garage is tight. Will not fit with a dually that’s for sure! I have a Highlander and it was a little tight. Service-We didn’t ask for service while there. But had plenty of towels & wash rags for 2 people for 2 days. Note-I seen where it is noted that they clean every 2 days if staying 2 days or more. Rooms-room was clean. However, I did find a pill on the floor next to bed base when I first arrived upon inspection of arrival. It wasn’t mine nor my partners. (Just like a prescribed pill, not drug related. I just threw it in the trash.) FYI-We were near the front desk & you can hear everything! As well as the folks (kids) running around above us on 2nd floor. Pool & (small) gym seemed to appear nice. Didn’t use during stay. They did have a vending machine at end of haul for late night or day snacks.
I wish we would have seen Andrea's 1-star review before booking this hotel. Apparently, they have someone that works at the hotel that smells weed whether you have it or not, and then charges your card on file an additional $200 without authorization. It is unclear if we were charged for having weed or smoking weed, but I assure you we did neither, yet we were still charged an additional $200. Andrea's review says, "do not book if you are under 25" however we are considerably older and still got charged the "weed tax." STAY AWAY!! Edit to management: please feel free to post any documented evidence that you have of our having weed, as we requested this upon checkout and were not provided any. So to respond saying that you take additional charges seriously is laughable.
Absolutely disgraceful service!!! Shayna the receptionist is probably one of the most illiterate customer service people I’ve come across in my life. I called the hotel on the day of my check in as I was stranded alone in Dunedin to see if I could check in early and was told - hmm will try and see if a room is available if so I’ll call you back. Why not just say we will put u in the first room available once it’s ready? Not IF. Then when I asked if I was getting a room on the higher floor they told me no I booked a lower floor room, when I paid the extra cost for a king room? There were two King rooms on the website and I booked the more expensive one. I asked what the higher cost was for and she couldn’t tell me so they just cancelled my room and left me stranded in Dunedin!!! ?? Stranded ?? Luckily I found the Meronova Hotel located about 1 minute away and booked same day , and they let me check in early!! Why couldn’t Grant Inn do the same? I’m literally single female alone and they couldn’t do that for me? Absolutely disgusting service I’ve never experienced anything quite this bad in my life. Never stay at this place, read all the one star reviews and take your hard earned money elsewhere
