Frenchy's Original Cafe

We loved Frenchy's so much! Our first beach meal had to be special so Candis researched and the locals go HERE! Their specialty is gulf grouper, which I've never had before. I ordered the Fried Grouper Cheeks, Homemade Potato Chips, and Pineapple Coleslaw. Candis got Shrimp and Grits, Ayanna a Shrimp Po Boy, and Allen the standard Bacon Cheeseburger done medium and plain with fries. I had to look up what grouper cheeks were and they are literally the cheeks of a grouper. The waitress said that it's like the dark meat of the fish. I love dark meat. I have never tasted anything like it before. First one was without the sauce and it was like a fried tablespoon of butter! So good, so tender. The batter was thin and perfect. The homemade chips were just how I like them. A little thinner than kettle chips, warm, and cooked until they're just turning brown. Pineapple Coleslaw was a well taken risk. It was a creamy mix of vinegar and pineapple juice with crisp cabbage. Candis lived her shrimp and grits. It was a little spicy, and smoky. The grits were one of a kind. They topped it with homemade onion straws. Ayanna devoured the po boy and said it was just like it should be. Allen loved the bacon cheeseburger. The staff was super friendly and even got us out in time to see the Gulf sunset. I would bro highly recommend.

Absolutely amazing every time you come in for lunch, the daily lunch specials and Lauren did a great job of running the bar when It was extremely busy! Hats off and great food/small vibe atmosphere! Will be back! Also get the chicken sandwich when it’s on special!

Grouper Cajun style was impeccable. We also got the hot honey chicken sandwich. Our waitress made suggestions for our first time here and she nailed it. Exceptional good simple but yet SO FRESH! Great work Frenchy’s 👍🏼

The original Frenchy's! This location is also fairly small but had a decent amount of seating. Our waitress was very attentive and was constantly checking on us and giving us suggestions on what's popular or what to order when we unsure. I came with family and we ordered frozen margaritas to finish our passport as well as the snow crab fries. I think about these fries every single day since having them. They were AMAZING! And decently filling too.

I had the Cajun shrimp tacos they were delicious...nicely seasoned. I wanted the Mexican street corn on the cob but they only had off the cob. I was hesitant but off the cob was delicious 😋 Everyone else enjoyed their food. My son had street corn bowl with grilled grouper instead of chicken. It was very good.
