Lay of the Land: Enjoy stunning views as you approach the park via the scenic one-mile Fred Howard Causeway. The beach itself has a swimming area and stunning, sun drenched sand. Park goers can take advantage of picnic shelters, a butterfly garden, softball field, playground and a hiking/biking trail. The park is closed the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

Little Known Facts: The mile-long causeway is a favorite of filmmakers. Most recently the causeway was featured in the John Cusack feature "Grace is Gone" and in a national television commercial for Cadillac.

Why You Should Go: The orientation of the park makes it a favorite among wind surfers, or for the less adventurous, it's also a great place to watch wind-surfers as you enjoy the white sandy beach, which is also perfect for sunbathing. Sunsets are spectactacular.

Beautiful!! Great walking paths, dog friendly, plenty of picnic tables with grills and great views. One half of the park is more nature driven and it is free to park. There are pavilions that you can rent, and many bathrooms scattered throughout. There's also many great spots to fish. In this side of the park, they also have a big, open area where there's a baseball diamond so people can come out and play games. It is really a nice family spot. A little further over in this side of the park, there's also a giant playground for the kids to play. When you cross over the long bridge headed out to the point, you are able to park all along the bridge and that's where you begin to have to pay to park. When you get to the end of the bridge - the point - it turns into what we call mini-Clearwater Beach and it is just packed!! Beautiful, beautiful views, white sand and a really nice beach area to lay out in and relax for the day. This half of the park is NOT dog friendly, and we had the dogs with us, so we didn't get out here, but we did drive through to check it out. I'm already planning my next trip back.

Wow! What an amazing and very enjoyable county park and beach! Lots to do from walking nature trails to swimming in calm water, from kayaking and paddle boarding to fishing and crabbing and everything in between. While I was swimming two dolphins swam roughly 5 feet to where I was. What a treat! 🩷

Beautiful park to enjoy lounging and swimming. Love that you can rent 2 chairs & umbrella. Less to carry from the car. Parking is close and reasonably priced; one price for the entire day. Nice that there's restrooms and rinsing stations to get the sand off. I've only gone there during the week when crowds are small.

Beautiful there. Has some nice trails to walk your dog. Lots of shaded areas and some picnic tables/grills/pavilions. Beautiful views of the water. Beach is also gorgeous, was a bit packed, but still beautiful.
