Freaky Tiki Surf Shack

What an adorable place. It is clean and fresh. The only downfall was that we were not greeted. We were right by the girl behind the register who didn't even say hello despite nobody being there and looking right at us so we left.

I am not one to write reviews very often, if at all, but I am honestly aghast at the behavior of the employee we encountered today. We visited the store for the first time a couple days ago. We loved the merchandise and friendly conversation with the staff so much that we decided to swing by today and grab a couple more T-shirts around 6:30-6:40pm. My fiancé had a stain on his shirt, so when we were checking out he asked if he could switch shirts really quickly to a fresh one he had just purchased. The lady working the counter said that was fine, then walked away to let another customer into the dressing room, so my fiancé switched shirts quickly while no one was around. When the cashier returned, we chatted and made a couple jokes about how no one saw him change and he’s a man so who cares. The cashier then proceeded to say how “no one would see anything but his bigggg belly and how the cameras would see his big ole belly, but she doesn’t access the cameras.” She continued on, unprompted, saying how my fiancé is like her dad who “has a huuuugeeee belly”. And how she thinks that’s better, and it means you’re healthy, rather than “all these people getting on shots now”. My fiancé wears a size L/XL, and frankly whether he wore a XXS or a 5x it would still be completely out of line to make careless comments on someone’s body. In a clothing store, nonetheless. Given the experience we had today, I doubt we will be returning to this store. Which is truly such a shame, as we probably bought about $500 of merchandise there the past couple days and were looking forward to visiting this store many more times since it’s so close to us. The employees we met the other day were great, their products are comfortable and good quality, but one employee being rude and making out of line comments ruins the experience and makes it impossible to support this business.

My favorite shop when in CWB. Lots of great t shirts, as well as flip flops and cool stuff. The staff could definitely be friendlier. The lady working on Saturday am was complaining about some dude showing up to work before his shift and called him a moron. Much less than professional. She should have been more focused on being helpful and less on her coworker. She certainly wasn’t friendly. I felt so bad for the young guy having to work with such a harsh lady. If the manager or owner sees this, she needs some coaching.
