A Mind-Bending Collection in a Unique BuildingThe St. Pete museum, which dates to 1982, moved into its stunning new building in 2011. The imaginative building’s most outstanding feature is its fantastic window, which captures views of Tampa Bay. The Enigma, as it’s called, is a 75-foot-tall, freeform geodesic dome made of 1,062 triangular pieces of glass, each one a slightly different shape. Inside the building, an open helical staircase adds to the feeling of movement and recalls the artist’s interest in spirals.
The museum’s vast collection includes artwork representing every moment and medium of his creative life and includes 96 oil paintings, drawings, book illustrations, prints, sculptures, photos, manuscripts and documents. All galleries, housing both the permanent collection and rotating special exhibits, are on the third floor. In addition, the museum hosts events, performances, lectures, workshops and children’s activities.
Dalí DomeThe Dalí Dome stretches 2,000 square feet and stands 39 feet tall, with 14 projects that create a fully immersive panoramic experience. Dalí Alive 360° celebrates the life of Salvador Dalí, letting visitors get lost in Dalí’s surreal landscapes, iconic melting clocks and mind-bending illusions in this one-of-a-kind experience. Surreal Nature, also located in the Dalí Dome, brings nature to life through digital art, light and sound, from cascading waterfalls in lush jungles to vibrant blossoming flowers. These special experiences are ticketed separately.
Blending Art and TechnologyJust as Salvador Dalí explored myriad media and new artistic avenues to express himself, The Dalí Museum uses cutting-edge technology to educate visitors about Dalí’s life and works. Visitors to The Dalí can see Dalí’s paintings come to life through Augmented Reality (AR) using the free Dalí Museum App, can hear from a reimagined Salvador Dalí on a series of screens in the Dalí Lives Artificial Intelligence (AI) experience, and step into one of Salvador Dalí’s works through a virtual reality head set, all included with the price of admission. For something more interactive, pick up a phone inspired by Dalí's famous Lobster Phone at Ask Dalí, an award-winning AI experience that lets visitors pose questions to a recreated Salvador Dalí and hear responses in a voice and style modeled on the artist himself.
Visit the Garden, Shop and CaféWander through the Museum’s Avant-garden and spot whimsical touches including a melting clock on a drooping bench and a mustache sculpture perfect for selfies. In the Mathematical Garden, students can explore the connection between nature and math. The museum store has a vast assortment of Dalí-related merchandise. Be sure to stop in Café Gala for a snack or light lunch of tapas or other Spanish-inspired fare.

What Visitors Love
Brillant museum, definitely worth a visit. Travelled from the UK and really wanted to visit see Dali Art. I was not disappointed, the place is stunning. Excellent value for money! The exhibits are brillant, the place is easy to follow and had a lot of space inside. The cafe was also a great highlight for a quick snack.
We visited The Dali Museum a couple of years ago for the Van Gogh exhibit, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The exhibit was immersive, beautifully curated, and unlike anything we had seen before. It felt creative, thoughtful, and truly memorable the entire time we were there. The museum itself is also absolutely worth visiting. The building is beautiful, the atmosphere is inspiring, and everything felt very well organized. There was so much to take in, and the whole experience felt special rather than rushed. What stood out most was how engaging and unique the exhibit was. It was the kind of experience that stays with you long after you leave, and it made the visit feel completely worth it. If you enjoy art, museums, or experiences that feel a little different and more meaningful, this is definitely a place to visit. We still talk about that visit, and I would absolutely recommend The Dali Museum to anyone in the area!
The Dalí Museum is a fascinating place with an unexpectedly large and varied collection. The vast majority of the museum is devoted to Salvador Dalí, but considering how extensive and diverse his work was, there is far more to explore than I initially expected. There are also sculptures, related exhibits, and other displays that provide additional variety. This is not an enormous museum, but it packs an impressive amount into a relatively compact space. The galleries explore different periods, styles, and ideas from Dalí’s career, with surreal artwork and bizarre visual details that you are unlikely to encounter anywhere else. Some pieces reveal another hidden face, shape, or illusion every time you look at them. It feels less like casually viewing artwork and more like temporarily wandering around inside Dalí’s wonderfully strange brain. The interactive technology adds another level to the experience. A free mobile guide provides audio information about selected works, while augmented-reality and artificial-intelligence features offer entirely different ways to explore the collection. Ask Dalí even lets visitors pick up a lobster-phone-inspired receiver and have a conversation with an AI recreation of the artist. Appropriately weird and completely on brand. There is also much more to experience beyond the indoor galleries. The Avant-garden includes sculptures, a labyrinth, a Wish Tree, a melting-clock bench, a Mathematical Garden, and a giant Dalí mustache. I did not have enough time to explore all of the gardens, interactive areas, and additional experiences during this visit, which gives me a good reason to return. Café Gala is located inside and offers Spanish-inspired food, pastries, and drinks. I did not try it, so I cannot personally judge the food, but it provides a convenient place to relax during a longer visit. Overall, this is a cool museum and an enjoyable place to spend several hours. It may be relatively small in size, but it contains an impressive amount of artwork, technology, outdoor features, and wonderfully bizarre things to discover. If you enjoy surrealism—or simply like seeing creative things that make you wonder what the hell was happening inside someone’s head—this is absolutely the place to visit.
If you’re visiting St. Petersburg, Florida, The Dalí Museum is definitely worth adding to your itinerary. During my visit, the entire exhibition was dedicated to Salvador Dalí, making it a fascinating experience for anyone interested in his work or surrealist art. One of the highlights was the Dalí Alive 360° immersive experience. I highly recommend purchasing your tickets in advance, as it is timed and very popular. The museum itself is beautiful, well organized, and enjoyable to explore. The volunteers were consistently friendly, welcoming, and eager to answer questions, which made the visit even more enjoyable. Whether you’re already a Dalí fan or simply looking for a unique cultural experience in St. Pete, this museum is absolutely worth visiting.
A nice display of Dali's paintings and photos. There's a 20 min preview in a movie theater to start, we recommend that over the 30+ min in the domed video. (uncomfortable seating + extra $15). We noticed several guided tours which were very informative (free). A nice cafe and gift/collectibles shop. We arrived early, parked very close ($10) and spent about 4 hrs walking around. Air conditioning was cold, which we liked, but others may need to dress warm. The staff was very helpful and polite. The museum sits on a fantastic location and is a must see for art fans.
