Courtyard by Marriott Tampa/Oldsmar

I travel frequently for business and have stayed at this property multiple times. In fact, during a previous stay I had such a positive interaction with one of the staff members at the bar that I took the time to leave a 5-star review recognizing her professionalism and hospitality. Unfortunately, my most recent experience completely changed my perception of this hotel. The issue was not the room itself — it was the check-in experience and the way I was treated by the person/front desk employee working that evening. From the beginning, the interaction felt cold, dismissive, and unnecessarily uncomfortable. I booked a specific member/package rate that included benefits such as late checkout and a beverage offering, which I paid extra for. When I politely asked about the drink benefit, I was immediately met with resistance and told they “don’t use vouchers,” despite this being something that had been handled professionally during my previous stays. The entire interaction became awkward and unpleasant for no reason. This was never about trying to get “free drinks” — it was about receiving the services and hospitality tied to the rate and loyalty program benefits I had already paid for. What disappointed me most was the inconsistency and attitude. Frequent business travelers value professionalism, efficiency, and courtesy more than anything else, especially after long workdays and late arrivals. Sadly, this experience was negative enough that I will no longer be staying at this property for future business travel.

Great little hotel. You can tell this place has grown into its own personality through the years. The staff is friendly and the lobby is well kept. Its my understanding that players from the NFL stay here from time to time, although I unfortunately hadn't seen any during my stay. There is a little breakfast/ coffee area in the lobby too but I hadn't tried that either. The room was great. Bed was comfy and clean and the shower was decent which, after a long travel was welcome! Plenty of food choices nearby however, I recommend visiting Tampa Bay Brewing Co which is up the road a ways for a hearty meal and beverage. The Refrigerator in the room WORKED 💪 which here of late has been a real struggle for the hotels I stay at. I can't speak to the gym as I was here for a 5k I opted to rest up instead. There are two downsides to this hotel. The first being there is only one elevator and it is slow as heck, seriously I just wound up using the stairs during my stay (3rd floor i think) which, somehow, was still faster than the elevator. The second is the hotels humidity in the hallways, it feels like you're in a sauna just walking to your room. (FL resident, i know about our humidity) Luckily the rooms don't have the same issue. I would stay here again!

I went to stay here for a night and customer service was great. But, the room had a fake nail on the floor and the bathtub was chipping paint. The worst of all is I was supposed to pay 138.43 with a $50 deposit for incase something went wrong. Which made it a total of $188.43. When I checked out today May 24, 2026 from room 206, I did NOT get my $50 deposit back I actually got charged an additional fee of $50. I went in and showed the clerk. She said her system showed I only paid $138.43. It is 3 hours later and my bank still shows I never got my $100 back that was over paid. I added a screen shot of my bank information. If it was returned the $50 would be red with a minus sign.

Reserved and prepaid for a one bedroom king suite. When we arrived, the room had a really strong foul odor. It stunk so much that we had to request another room. No suite available, so they moved us to a lessor normal room. No rate reduction, no discount, in fact after checking out they charged us an additional $40.79. When I callled the hotel to question the charge, the gentleman told me that tax wasn't originally charged...which was a lie. I checked my original invoice and tax was included. The hotel just charged me a higher nightly rate and then offered me bonus Bonvoy points for the inconvenience. I was okay with paying the original price, even for the lessor room. But charging me extra and then being dishonest about the charge led to this review. Not good business practices.

The lady who checked us in was quite rude to my husband. Long blonde hair, I didn't catch her name because she never once made eye contact with me or greeted me. Very unhelpful, gaslighting, the whole 9 yards. The hotel itself is a bit shabby. Luggage carts are wonky, the only elevator is slow and old, pretty obvious wear and tear everywhere. The bed was ok and we slept well but only because my neighbors were respectful. There was very little, if any sound proofing in the room. I would stay here in an emergency but it was very overpriced for the quality. The Starbucks downstairs was already closed at 9:30 am. Ridiculous. Maybe Courtyard Marriotts have gone down hill in general.
