Wonderful time here! No major issues with our stay at all. Anything we had concerns about, we shared with the front desk and they made sure to make us comfortable!! We really enjoyed the hospitality here. Staff is excellent!! We didn't have enough time to enjoy the pool. We didn't make it back to our room til after pool hours! We'll have to plan another trip soon.

Beware, there is a daily resort fee of $39 that is not disclosed by this hotel on Agoda/third party sites. It's apparently hidden in fine print (I have yet to find it). The hotel blames Agoda, but I find it fishy that they can mention other possible fees (ex. laundry) but find it impossible to be transparent about the resort fee. It's obvious that this allows them to advertise a lower total cost when you are looking at options, only to surprise you with extra charges later. Regardless, overall we had a great time. Pros: - Beach access at third location is wonderful; lots of chairs and comfortable seating you can rent too - Chris at the bar is an absolute a gem; so friendly and fun! - daily happy hour from 4-5 - they have towels, snacks, and necessities at the main beach location - staff is friendly, room was clean Cons: - walls are thin and you can hear everything outside your room/next door - no full length mirror, just one above sink in bathroom - no coffee in the room (you have to visit the main location) - you def cannot use the futon for sleeping. It’s super small and not comfortable at all. (I actually have the same exact one for my kids in our basement game room. We got it super cheap from Walmart and it’s horrible)

My name is Melissa Erbes. My husband and I recently celebrated our anniversary at Bay Plaza from 7/7-7/9, 2026. I want to share our experience with you. First, I had booked third-party (Hotwire), so the room was paid, we just owed $78 in resort fees at check-in. When we arrived at check-in, we were pleasantly greeted by Cherish. Again, we had a room available, Hotwire called it a "suite", however at check-in, we were given the opportunity to upgrade our room for $50. Evidently, according to your staff, our current room was not very nice and had a terrible view, and since it was our anniversary, we'd be better off in the suite on first floor facing Boca Ciega Bay. This was the same view we would have had one floor up. We agreed, not realizing that we'd be charged again for taxes and a higher resort fee. Once we entered the room, we saw that everything was dirty. The floor was slippery with sand and dirt, there were wrappers in the bedroom that were not ours, and as the night went on, the guests next to us were smoking marijuana and it reeked so bad in our room from it. I'm no prude, but I do have lung cancer and this affected me terribly to the point I could barely breathe. There were loud children in the pool beyond midnight, and the next day, the pool was closed for "health code violations" and through the remainder of our stay. The TV would not connect to the Internet for the entirety of our stay, and we reached out via text to the main office for help. Tanner (regional manager) was the one who responded to us, and stated he would be over to help. (I work for a tech company, so we're quite tech- savvy.) We waited for hours, and he never showed, just texted to let us know he reset the modem and he gave me the staff password. Needless to say, it still did NOT work for the remainder of the stay. Also--there happened to be construction going on directly outside the hotel on the street. While I understand this is a city issue, this is your business, and it left guests unable to come or go. Totally inconvenient. Finally, during our stay we received a text that pest control was coming in. This was NOT a 24-hour notice, we're fellow Floridians so we understand the need, but it could have been taken care of when guests weren't present. We had communicated these issues throughout our stay in-person and via text with no resolve, and it was incredibly disappointing. We even contacted the owner with no response. We were visiting from Fort Myers, and this was a special occasion for us. It turned into a nightmare and overcharged mess.

THIS IS A MUST GO TO PLACE!!! Do not book anywhere else but here!!! Rooms are spacious, so many things to do around the area! Free parking, toddler area on the beach, and 4-5pm happy hour. Bar right next to beach with great deals on amazing drinks. This is literally your home away from home. I was treated like family during my stay! My two year old, best friend and I had an absolutely amazing stay! I can’t wait too book again!!!!! If I could give over 5 stars for everything I would.

We recently stayed at this "resort". We were told check in is at 4pm, rather late in the day. We arrived slightly after 4. Had to walk down the street past the stop light to go to the office to get the keys. There is no one on site. We then walked back to the room only to find a maintenance worker installing blinds. Couldn't go in and relax after a 3 hour drive. We brought our boat since they have slips and call them selves a marina. There is no place to park a trailer at all. They told us to park at the vacant bank building down the street. Couldn't park there, lot too small and full of construction vehicles so had to park even further away. no boat ramp so had to use the public ramp 1/2 mile away then leave the trailer in a dirt lot then park the truck in spots so short the bed overhangs the sidewalk. Never once saw housekeeping staff. Never saw janitorial staff, the exterior trash cans were full. Used the pool which is very small and had dead mosquitos all over the surface. The room was nothing like the pictures, it is smaller than our master bathroom. They charge a resort fee and trailer fee so beware. Definitely recommend looking around before booking. 2 stars because they did refund the resort fee and trailer fee, otherwise would be 1 star.
