Chihuly Collection special exhibition Magic + Migration: Nature in Contemporary Glass is a celebration of art, wildlife, and the vision of master glass artist Duncan McClellan.
On View: Now - January 18, 2026 (included with admission)
Dale Chihuly’s connection to nature is a fundamental aspect of his art, evident in his use of natural forms and the inspiration drawn from the beauty of the natural world, such as Puget Sound and his mother’s gardens. He has presented his work in numerous botanic gardens, integrating his sculptures into natural settings and creating installations that complement their environment. His desire for his art to “appear like it came from nature” is fulfilled by his glassworks, which can be found in public and private garden settings, embodying the “organic forms and vibrant colors of the natural world.” Chihuly also views glass as a magical material, transforming from the common element of sand into luminous, flowing forms through fire.
Magic + Migration: Nature in Contemporary Glass is a nod to Chihuly’s ongoing interest and exploration of themes surrounding the natural world. The seven artists in this exhibition use images of fish, birds and wildlife to convey deeper meanings related to mankind and our relationship to the world around us.
