This effort makes it easier for visitors to explore local experiences, choose accommodations that work for them and enjoy a more inclusive, worry-free visit. What is Wheel the World?
Wheel the World is a travel platform that helps people with disabilities plan trips by providing verified accessibility information for more than 200 destinations. The St. Pete-Clearwater destination page features hotels, attractions, and activities with accessibility details so visitors can choose experiences that meet their needs.
What does it mean for a destination to be Accessibility Verified?
Accessibility Verified is a program from Wheel the World that evaluates and documents accessible features across a destination. Specially trained "mappers" visit participating locations and collect detailed information about entrances, pathways, restrooms, parking, seating and other features that affect accessibility.
By participating in the assessment and being featured on WheeltheWorld.com, your hotel, restaurant or tourism business can receive:
- A personalized accessibility evaluation, with recommendations to help improve the experience for visitors with accessibility needs.
- The Accessibility Verified seal, which can be displayed at your business to highlight your commitment to inclusive travel.
- Access to Wheel the World Academy for your team, including a one-hour training and certification designed to help staff better support travelers with accessibility needs.
