Safety Harbor Chamber of Commerce

Referred to as the "sunrise side" of Tampa Bay, Safety Harbor is a community of 17,000 situated ten miles east of Clearwater. Visitors enjoy learning of its colorful history which includes the Tocobaga Indian Tribes headquarters, Spanish explorers, pirates and the first grapefruit ever planted in Florida.

Safety Harbor has a friendly, walkable downtown. Start at the Marina and waterfront park and just savor the view of beautiful Tampa Bay. Many visitors in the summertime spot manatee who find the waters of the Marina favorable for "hanging out". Bike and kayak rentals are also available.

Famed Safety Harbor Resort and Spa still serves up the natural mineral waters from the spring discovered by Spanish explorers in their "quest for youth". The Spa is a popular vacation and meeting resort.

Downtown beckons with unique boutiques, art galleries, the Chamber's visitor center, a much-used, much-loved pavilion, one of the oldest live oak trees in existence, and a number of cafes and eateries, most of which are privately owned.

The Safety Harbor Museum of History offers a glimpse into the early development of the area and showcases artifacts, dioramas, and artwork. It sits on the site of an authentic Tocoboga Indian mound.

County-run Philippe Park sits on 122 acres alongside beautiful Tampa Bay and is perfect for picnicking, hiking, and restful getaways. A raised Tocobaga Indian Mound and the final resting place of Odet Philippe, the original planter of grapefruit, can also be viewed.
