First United Methodist Church, established in 1887, is rich with stories of people and buildings. Woven between stories of internationally renowned speakers are members who have become noted in public life, and stories of missionaries and ministers who have gone forth from our congregation. Our current building has stories of its own, including one of the collapse of part of the building during its construction. Built in the 1920's with ten Tiffany Style stained glass windows depicting the life of Christ, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. While this beauty may be seen as a definite enhancement to our Traditional worship services, each Sunday the sanctuary is also filled with the exuberant sounds of a Contemporary service
