Birchwood Canopy

This is a very cool rooftop bar with panoramic views of Old Tampa Bay and the beautiful waterfront parks and and buildings of downtown St. Petersburg, which in my opinion is one of the nicest cities in the entire USA. The drinks are pretty expensive here, as is the food, but if you want to enjoy a nice evening here, the best time to arrive is about 45 minutes prior to sunset, and try to get one of the small table around the edge of railing that surrounds the courtyard in the center. As the sun sets, the sky colors get quite beautiful, as does the sun's rays and reflection off the nearby Vinoy Hotel and the Pier complex. Another great time to visit is during the months of late November through early January when the city puts up the holiday decorations and thousands of lights in and around North and South Straub Park. Periodically, they will close off the Canopy Bar for private events, so it's best to call the hotel to make sure you won't be disappointed before walking or driving there. Also, even on open nights, particularly on weekends, this place will get very crowded, making it tough to get a drink at the walk-up bar or at one of the tables with wait staff service.

Was in town for work and this place was recommended to me by a friend and I am so glad I took their recommendation. Absolutely the best vibes, great music, great food, and great drinks. I had their lemon and artichoke hummus and their shrimp and Mexican corn tacos. Calli was my server and she made it even more of an enjoyable experience. Sad I’m not local because I would be here all the time.

Make sure you stop here for a drink on your night out. It was crowded, but the service was great. We ordered the espresso martinis because they looked really good and glad we did, because they were the Best espresso martinis we’ve ever had. The atmosphere was a lot of fun with a great view!

Absolutely the best view in St Pete that I’m aware of. Great drink selection and staff. Draft beer, wines and cocktails. We ate before we came up so no food. Birdie is an excellent server.
