The Central Park Performing Arts Center is welcoming the iconic British rock band Wishbone Ash on Wednesday, March 11th at 7:30pm. Known for pioneering a twin-lead guitar sound and a genre-blending style that fuses rock, blues, folk, and jazz, their live shows are a celebration of the extensive catalog that has solidified their place in rock history.
Formed in 1969 during one of rock’s most creatively fertile eras, Wishbone Ash quickly carved out a distinctive place in music history. Their melodic approach and harmonized dual-guitar arrangements became a signature influence on bands such as Thin Lizzy, Iron Maiden, and modern groups like Opeth. Their extensive catalog, highlighted by the multi-million-selling Argus, remains a cornerstone of classic rock, supported by 24 studio albums, numerous live releases, and an enduring touring legacy.
The band’s current lineup features founding member Andy Powell on lead vocals and guitar, joined by guitarist Mark Abrahams, bassist Bob Skeat, and drummer Mike Truscott. Their performances deliver the instrumental firepower and audience-driven energy that have defined the band for generations. Each show celebrates both their storied past and the ongoing evolution that keeps fans returning year after year.
