1 Beach Chair Eclipse Viewing

Pull up a beach chair and watch the show! The St. Pete Beach Public Library will host a Beach Chair Eclipse Viewing from 1-4:30 p.m. and will provide free eclipse glasses. They’ll also host a pre-eclipse show for children ages 7-12 the prior Friday which will feature activities all about eclipses. For more information visit the St. Pete Beach Library online.
Treat your taste buds to a culinary masterpiece with the new “Simmer & Sift” four-part series at the Museum of Fine Arts, where guests will enjoy flavor-filled food tastings, signature drinks and live demonstrations by four of Florida’s most seasoned chefs. Dual restaurant-owner Greg Baker will present his old Florida-inspired demonstration. Baker, the chef-owner of Tampa’s The Refinery and Fodder & Shine, trained at Portland’s Western Culinary Institute and is passionate about Florida cuisine and maintaining partnerships with farmers. In addition, award-winning historian, Gary Mormino, will provide guests with a feature presentation on Florida cuisine where he will discuss the “Foodways of Ybor City.” Dr. Mormino has served as a professor of history at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg and was named the 2003 Humanist of the Year by the Florida Humanities Council. Tickets are available for $40 per demonstration for MFA members and $50 for non-members. The 9th Annual Gecko Ball will have a theme of "Geckostock!," transporting ball-goers into a psychadelic era through decor and scenery to celebrate the hippie culture and legendary 1969 Woodstock Festival. Expect to experience over-the-top revelry and costumes, from hippies to rock stars to other 60s cultural and political touchstones. Attendees are encouraged to develop costumes relating to hippies, Woodstock and the 1960s, or to geckos or any creative combination! “Geckostock” will be held at the historic waterfront Gulfport Casino Ballroom (5500 Shore Boulevard South) from 6-11 p.m. Tickets are $35 per person and can be purchased at the Gulfport Welcome Center, Gulfport Beach Bazaar or online at VisitGulfportFlorida.com. Bring along your yoga mat and come ready to be inspired! Join Lucky Cat Yoga at 10:30 a.m. every Sunday at The Dali Museum for yoga. Classes are held in the Raymond James Community Room or outside in the Avant-garden, both with incredible views of the waterfront. The cost to participate is $10 for members and $15 for non-members.
