A signature destination on the downtown St. Pete waterfront, the St. Pete Pier is the anchor of the St. Pete Pier District, which spreads out across 26 acres. Filled with family-friendly green spaces, eateries, attractions and activities, the St. Pete Pier is the perfect place to spend a day.
Visiting the St. Pete Pier
The St. Pete Pier opens 30 minutes before sunrise and closes at 11 p.m. The Marketplace hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Restaurant hours vary, so check each business. The pier has 500 parking spots as well as extensive bike parking and access via the Downtown Looper and Central Avenue Trolley. A tram runs the length of the pier, stopping at four spots, and wide, paved paths make the pier accessible to all.
Families will enjoy the Tampa Bay Watch Discovery Center with its unique interactive exhibits, which educate visitors about Tampa Bay's unique ecosystem in a hands-on fashion. The splash pad is the perfect spot for kids to play in and cool off on a hot summer day. Enjoy the pavilion next door and load up on snacks and cold drinks, or head to Spa Beach for some toes-in-the-sand fun without having to leave the pier.
Restaurants at the St. Pete Pier
If you develop an appetite, you'll find plenty of restaurants to choose from. Restaurants at the end of the pier include the fine-dining Teak, the more laid-back and tropical bar Pier Teaki and the Driftwood Cafe. They're on different levels of the Pier Point building, and all offer amazing views of Tampa Bay and the city. Elsewhere on the pier, Doc Ford's Rum Bar and Grille is the place where you're most likely to find a party atmosphere.
Fun Activities at the Pier
The pier has several other fun activities for visitors to enjoy. Fishermen will find numerous spots along the structure where they can drop out a line and see what's biting. Be sure to check out the Marketplace, which has an array of independent vendors selling artwork – you might just find the perfect souvenir to take home. There are also several other playgrounds, art installations and picnic areas you'll want to explore.
