Whether you're a casual or diehard fan of baseball, there are numerous opportunities to spend the day enjoying a game or learn about the history of the game. Tampa Bay is rich with baseball history, dating back to St. Pete's first spring training games a century ago ... including many played by the legendary Babe Ruth and the New York Yankees.

The St. Pete/Clearwater area welcomes some of the most legendary teams for Spring Training, including the Philadelphia Phillies, who play in Clearwater, and the Toronto Blue Jays, whose Spring Training facility is in Dunedin. The Tampa Bay Rays will return to Port Charlotte, which is approximately 80 miles south of St. Petersburg, for spring training in February 2024. Neighboring counties within a two-hour drive of St. Pete/Clearwater that host Major League teams for spring training include: Hillsborough (New York Yankees in Tampa), Manatee (Pittsburgh Pirates in Bradenton), Polk (Detroit Tigers in Lakeland), Sarasota (Baltimore Orioles in Sarasota and Atlanta Braves in North Port), and Lee (Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins in Fort Myers).
