Tarpon Springs

Wander along the working waterfront on the Anclote River and take a boat ride to learn about the town’s historic sponge-diving trade. Palm Harbor

See a stunning sunset from the pier at Pop Stansell Park on Sutherland Bayou in Palm Harbor - or use the small launch area to explore the area by kayak or paddleboard.

Stay at the Innisbrook Resort & Golf Club and play on one of the four championship courses. Fishermen can drop a line in the Gulf of Mexico or Lake Tarpon. Enjoy a stroll along downtown’s Florida Avenue especially during festivals, crafts fairs and First Friday celebrations, with rides for kids and opportunities for everyone to sample food from local restaurants.

Dunedin

Craft beer aficionados will find plenty to sample in this walkable town north of Clearwater. Start at the Dunedin Brewery, Florida’s oldest microbrewery, then browse Main Street’s boutiques. Rent a bike to explore the Pinellas Trail, stopping for lunch and ice cream along the way. At Honeymoon Island State Park, hike through a pine forest and enjoy a beautiful beach, or hop a ferry to Caladesi Island’s quiet sands.

Clearwater

This small city is home to the wonderful Clearwater Marine Aquarium, where you can see rescued dolphins, sea turtles, otters and more. In springtime, you can cheer for the Philadelphia Phillies during their spring training games at BayCare Ballpark. In the fall, beautiful Coachman Park is host to the annual Clearwater Jazz Holiday. For spectacular views any time of year, drive, bike or walk across the Clearwater Memorial Causeway toward Clearwater Beach.

Clearwater Beach

Voted America’s No. 1 Beach in 2019, 2018 and 2016, Clearwater Beach is famous for its gorgeous, wide stretches of sugar-white sand lined with resorts ranging from opulent to budget-friendly. Plenty of restaurants and shops are at hand, along with all the watersports and beach activities you could ever want. A must-do? Joining the nightly sunset celebration at Pier 60, complete with live music and buskers.

Madeira Beach

At John's Pass in Madeira Beach, you'll find all things aquatic, from jet-ski rentals to fishing charters.

Beach-themed John’s Pass Village & Boardwalk is the centerpiece of “Mad Beach.” Shop and dine in the multilevel complex on the Intracoastal Waterway, or head out for a brunch or dinner cruise on the triple-decker Calypso Breeze. If you’re visiting in October, don’t miss the popular John’s Pass Seafood Festival. Walk the town’s two-mile beach early in the morning to have your pick of seashells.

St. Pete

The Dali Museum in St. Pete's Waterfront Museum District welcomes more than 400,000 visitors each year.

Friendly, hip St. Pete is packed with world-class museums and galleries, shaded bayfront parks and colorful neighborhoods including the Grand Central District, which hosts a huge Pride celebration. Check out the new St. Pete Pier, meander along Central Ave. to explore indie shops and cafes, and be amazed by glasswork at the Chihuly Collection.

Gulfport

Pass-A-Grille Beach

This sleepy community south of St. Pete Beach isn’t on the way to anywhere, and that’s a fine thing. Admire historic cottages, stroll along 8th Avenue from the Gulf beaches to the bayside and embark on a shelling tour to nearby Shell Key. Make your way to the Hurricane Seafood Restaurant to toast the sunset from the rooftop bar – it’s a time-honored tradition.
