Divine Dining At St. Pete/Clearwater Restaurants
Dig in to some delicious dining options that go beyond the norm! First, let’s talk fish. All along the coast, beachfront restaurants offer up fresh-caught fish and seafood (a fried grouper sandwich is pretty much obligatory during your visit) served with beachy cocktails and Instagram-worthy daily sunsets (no filter needed). Some top-rated restaurants to enjoy local seafood include Caretta on the Gulf on Clearwater Beach, 400 Beach Seafood & Tap House in St. Pete, and Crabby Bill’s on St. Pete Beach.
But wait, there’s more! Indulge in brilliant burger creations washed down with locally-made craft beer, a local take on the Cuban sandwich, and Florida’s own type of fusion food—Floribbean.
Don’t worry, vegetarians: While seafood tends to get the spotlight, there’s a plethora of ethnic culinary influence that means you not only won’t go hungry, your fish-eating friends will probably be jealous. Go for some Latino flavors at restaurants like Ceviche in St. Petersburg or The Columbia in Clearwater, grab a pie at Pizzeria Gregario in Safety Harbor, or break a plate at the Greek restaurants in Tarpon Springs (okay, please don’t actually break a plate).
Some of our favorite spots for local fare and up-and-coming dining hotspots are in downtown St. Pete (walkable and replete with entertainment and locally owned restaurants), downtown Dunedin (Black Pearl for upscale, or dress it down at Dunedin Brewery), and the local chain Frenchy’s with several locations throughout Clearwater.
By the way, leave the jacket and tie at home. Even the fancier restaurants will welcome you in flip-flops and jeans. That’s just how we roll.
