Winter's Dolphin Tale Adventure
Go behind the scenes...
Following the success of the film Dolphin Tale, the 3-D major motion picture about Clearwater Marine Aquarium's (CMA) famous tailless dolphin resident, Winter, CMA has just opened its newest exhibit Winter's Dolphin Tale Adventure.
Fans get an authentic behind the scenes look at the hit film, with recreated movie scenes, images and a variety of actual props used in Dolphin Tale. The 55,000-square-foot hall showcases items such as a hurricane corner and a three-prong touch tank, the same one used in the block-buster. Movie goers will also recognize sets such as the houseboat crow's nest and scenes from "Kyle's Pool Party". Previously only seen onscreen, a video of Winter the dolphin plays on monitors that look like the windows of a tank. The exhibit also features two mini-theaters, an interactive kid’s area and much more.
More than a movie
Winter's Dolphin Tale Adventure is both fun and educational and visitors will get more than a behind the scenes experience. Winter's true tail history and her prosthetic tail are also on show, including a set of early prototypes created in the real-life struggle to craft a successful artificial tail.
The new exhibit also explains how the innovative prosthetic care of Winter is helping to benefit human patients with a new gel material called WintersGel.
If you go
Winter's Dolphin Tale Adventure is located at the Harborview Center, in the Cleveland Street District of Historic Downtown Clearwater, located just a few miles east of the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.
Guests can purchase tickets on location (just $9.95 for kids 12 and under) or at CMA where combination packages ($19.95) to both attractions are sold, with free Clearwater Jolley Trolley transportation from one location to the other.
