Florida Flora & Fauna

The Florida Botanical Gardens are home to a dazzling array of species perfectly suited for Florida and serve as great inspiration for guests who enjoy a stroll in a green paradise. Highlighting how Florida grows across its 150 sun-kissed acres, visitors can enjoy more than 25 gardens and display areas that showcase flora, fauna and natural resources to delight nature enthusiasts. Every turn reveals a new botanical treasure including tropical plants, fruits, herbs, hibiscus, bromeliads and more.

The garden isn't just for plants though – more than 150 types of bird, mammals and reptiles have been documented on the site. Several endangered or threatened species including bald eagles, gopher tortoises and sherman fox squirrels make their home here. There are also a number of plants that are vulnerable or in jeopardy of dying out.

Aquatic Inspiration

New to the park is a beautiful 170-foot mosaic fittingly named Aquatic Reflections. Featuring a glass pond filled with lily pads, goldfish, frogs and a playful turtle, this public artwork replaced the formal pools and adds to the natural wonder of the formal gardens. This colorful piece was created by volunteers who meticulously fashioned 84 2-by-4 foot mosaic pieces into a charming one-of-a-kind display.

Kid Fun

A walk through this landscaped paradise can be enjoyed by visitors of all ages. A children's trail, with the aid of a map that is available on site, guides kids on a search for butterflies, wildlife, tropical fruit and the discovery of the many amazing things we get from trees.

If You Go

Although located off one of the area's busier streets, this hidden gem offers visitors a sense of tranquility and calmness that can only be found in Mother Nature. Open every day from 7 a.m. to dusk, the gardens are free to the public. The Botanical Bounty gift shop, located in the welcome center, sells souvenirs and gifts with a horticultural flair. The store is open Monday through Friday. The gardens are located at the Pinellas County Extension offices and parking is available at 12520 Ulmerton Road in Largo, next to Heritage Village.
