Cultural Outings

You can spend an entire afternoon in downtown St. Petersburg meandering through the galleries and antiques stores lining Beach Drive, Fourth Avenue, Central Avenue and surrounding streets. Galleries spotlight a wide array of fine arts and crafts. Glass art glitters at Crystal Mirage Gallery. The P. Buckley Moss Gallery houses the world's most extensive collection of works from this artist including oil paintings, watercolors, drawings, etchings, serigraphs, offset lithographs, porcelain items and collectible gifts.

At ART Pool, nearly 20 regional artists show paintings, copper work, stained glass and creations in a variety of other media. Check out phantasmagorical Croatian art at Paintings of the World. You'll find one-of-a-kind items created by Florida artists at the Florida Craftsmen Gallery.

Antiquing it?

Visit Agnis Godfrey Antiques & Collectibles and Janet’s Antiques on Central Avenue and a host of other stores on Beach Drive. Located just west of Downtown St. Petersburg, the Grand Central District Association is home to antique retailers, art galleries, pubs, several beloved and diverse restaurants and electic shops. The Grand Central District is pedestrian friendly, with plenty of on-street parking, and can be easily reached via the Central Avenue Trolley, which makes several stops throughout the District. The Grand Central District is comprised of the 1600-3100 blocks of Central Avenue, as well as First Avenues North and South.

You’ll find similar offerings, including art galleries and funky crafts shops, not to mention the historic Beath Theater on Corey Avenue, the main shopping thoroughfare in St. Pete Beach.

Drive Alternate 19 from Clearwater to Tarpon Springs for a taste of Old Florida. You’ll see older homes, oak trees dripping with Spanish moss, offbeat boutiques and restaurants. Several antique shops including Antiques Forever and Menzer's Antiques are located on Tarpon Avenue in the quaint and historic downtown Tarpon Springs.
