Clearwater

A harbor community, Clearwater is nestled between Tampa Bay to the east and Clearwater Harbor to the west. Oak-lined avenues and streets run along gently sloping terrain throughout this third-largest metro area in the Tampa Bay region. Take a short hop across the architecturally unique Memorial Causeway Bridge to reach lively Clearwater Beach, one of the best-known resort towns on the Gulf of Mexico.

Clearwater Mall and Westfield Countryside Mall, local shops and boutiques, local and chain restaurants, recreation, sports and accommodations are scattered around town. Clearwater is a short drive from Tampa International Airport and St. Petersburg/Clearwater Airport. At Clearwater Marine Aquarium, on the causeway out to Clearwater Beach, visitors can wade with dolphins, see rescued sea turtles and take a Sealife Safari.

The 34-mile-long Pinellas Trail, built on an abandoned CSX railroad right-of-way, is designed for biking, walking, running and skating enthusiasts. It winds through Clearwater on its way from St. Petersburg to Tarpon Springs.

Waterfront Coachman Park hosts numerous outdoor concerts, including the free four-day Clearwater Jazz Holiday, which brings in such legendary talents as Dave Brubeck and Al Jarreau, as well as a popular July Fourth celebration and family-friendly Pirate Festival. Stunning views of Clearwater Harbor and tropical breezes make it a popular venue.

Largo

If you’re curious about Florida history, come visit Largo. Here you’ll find Pinewood Cultural Park, home to Heritage Village and the Florida Botanical Gardens. Heritage Village is a perennial favorite with visitors and residents – this 21-acre, open-air museum features 28 historical structures, including a restored school, church, railroad depot, store and log cabin.

Largo has reclaimed its Old Florida character in the redevelopment of its downtown district. Take a stroll in the West Bay Drive district and visit new Old Florida-style shops and restaurants. This charming district is just a short walk from Largo Central Park, known for its frequent festivals and other events.

To find your way around the city, take a free trolley ride. It runs Saturday and Sunday afternoons, departing from Largo Central Park, making nine stops along the way and returning to the park.

Popular with picnickers, Taylor Park spans 156 acres, including a 53-acre freshwater lake with excellent fishing. Small boats can be launched from a concrete boat ramp.
