The chairs, secreted away in an empty house for years, were shrouded in inch-think dust and grime. Still, Jackie Williams thought they might be what she calls “time capsule” pieces, so she purchased them as part of a private estate sale.
As it turns out, Jackie was right. After extensive restoration in the workshop of Furnish Me Vintage—a store she owns with her husband, Todd Wilson, in St. Petersburg—those chairs revealed themselves to be valuable mid-century modern pieces from the late 1960s, by the renowned Danish designer Niels Otto Møller.
“At first, we didn’t know if they were salvageable,” she says. Now they’re beautiful. With their rosewood frames, rich blue cushions and elegant design, the chairs now reside—and are for sale—on the fourth floor of Furnish Me Vintage.
Discover Timeless Treasures at Furnish Me Vintage
It’s a place brimming with such time-capsule treasures. Whether you’re a buyer or not, Furnish Me Vintage is a place to browse, to saunter, to revel. Unlike contemporary furniture retailers clogged with merchandise, Furnish Me Vintage’s showrooms breathe—they invite you to examine, to truly appreciate these pieces of timeless art in a relaxed, climate-controlled setting.
The owners fashioned Furnish Me Vintage from a run-down, 70-year-old building that had been an antique mall, but was originally a furniture store founded in 1946. Jackie finds it enchanting that she has bought classic pieces from people who purchased them decades ago from the original (mid-century) retailer.
She loves nothing more than to talk about her beloved time-capsule furniture. So by all means, seek her out when you stop in.
