Go for Sunset at the Beach at Redington Long Pier

Sunset at the Beach, Old Florida Style

Fishing piers and boardwalks have long been a staple of Florida vacations. Built in 1962, the Long Pier at Redington Shores is one of the only remaining fishing piers in the area. Extending more than 1200 feet out into the Gulf of Mexico, walk the boards with that special someone for some of the best sunset gazing in the area. And with ample parking, you don’t have to worry about missing sunset at the beach because you had to park miles away.

What to Do at Redington Pier (Besides Watch the Sun Sink into the Gulf)

Cast your line for some great fishing at this pier where you can rent rods and buy bate of all kinds. There is a fishing admission charge, but no fishing license is required to fish from the Redington Long Pier. You can even hold a group fishing party with your friendscall ahead to find out more.

Would you rather watch the wildlife than catch it? That’s easy to do too. Keep your eye out for local marine life including sting rays, manatees, and dolphins.

Redington Pier Opening Times & Admission Fees

Note that there is an admission charge for the pier, and opening times for the Pier depend on the season. Contact Redington Pier ahead of time to check the latest rates and opening times as they are subject to change.

  • Summer Hours (May – August): Sunday – Friday, 7am to Midnight; Saturday, 7am to 2am
  • Winter Hours (September – April): Sunday through Friday, 8am to 10pm; Saturday 8am to Midnight

Restaurants and things to do nearby

There’s a snack bar for Pier customers, but why not make a night of it and hang around the area for dinner after the sun sets. There are plenty of local favorites around. In North Redington Beach, Conch Republic serves up specials like their own take on the Cuban Sandwich, plus homemade cheesecake of the day. At Mangos Restaurant and Tiki Bar, keep enjoying those water views from the Sunset Deck overlooking the Gulf while noshing on Grouper Tacos or Surf & Turf.

You’ll have to stop by Shubee Shack before sunset because it closes earlybut it’s worth it for the friendly service from the owner (and the much-raved-about crab cake sandwich).
